More Data If there’s one big data prediction for 2017 that seems almost guaranteed to come true, it’s that enterprises will be dealing with more data than ever before.
According to the most recent Digital Universe study conducted by IDC on behalf of Dell EMC, the world’s storage systems held 4.4 trillion gigabytes at the end of 2013. Given that the volume of data is roughly doubling every two years, that means storage systems will contain roughly 17.6 trillion gigabytes of data by the end of 2017. Much of that data growth is resulting from other important IT trends, like the Internet of Things (IoT), social media and the proliferation of mobile devices.
