What Is Fog Computing? And Why It Matters In Our Big Data And IoT World

First everything was in “the cloud” but today’s new buzzword is “fog computing.”  No, it doesn’t have anything to do with the weather phenomenon, but rather with how we store and access data.

Cloud computing refers to the ability to store data and retrieve it from off-site locations. It’s how your smart phone got so smart; phones don’t have enough built-in storage to maintain all the information they need for all their apps and functions, so they’re constantly transmitting and receiving data in order to provide you with the services you want.
