Hiring data scientists is generally considered to be a difficult and time-consuming process. Historically, this has been attributed to a skills gap among applicants and the ever-growing demand from employers.
The gap is undoubtedly narrowing due to the proliferation of university programs, bootcamps and MOOC platforms offering rich content from experienced practitioners and luminaries in the field such as Andrew Ng and Peter Norvig. So why is it still so hard to hire a data scientist and demonstrate a return on investment?
