Search engine databases let you find the information you want from a sea of documents. This post is one of a series that introduces the fundamentals of NOSQL databases, and their role in Big Data Analytics.

What is a search engine database? Search engines are database management systems designed for finding desired content. How is a search engine database different from a relational database? Search engines deal with data that does not conform to the rigid structural requirements of relation databases. Data for search may be long, semi-structured or unstructured.
