What is an event store database? An event store is a database designed for tracking event as they occur, and maintaining a record of those events. How is an event store database different from a relational database?

Relational databases can be used to track event, but have certain weaknesses for this use. Tabular structure isn’t a good match for event data. Even worse, facts stored in relational databases can be changed. That’s desirable for presenting up to date information, but a real problem when tracking every action is a priority.
