I’ll get into my response, but will caveat it by saying that, given this is a projection into the future, I am likely to be wrong. Hopefully the response will be somewhat thought-provoking, though.

I’ll start by summarizing three broader trends: Increasingly complex data science algorithms will continue to be subsumed in packages and technologies that make them orders of magnitude easier to deploy: Consider what the experience of training and deploying (at scale) something like a random forest is like today compared to ten years ago – it is orders of magnitude faster to apply, can be done with a higher degree of quality & with less technical and statistical knowledge.
