Investing in domain knowledge As a data scientist, I somewhat knew that I had to invest in domain knowledge. However, no one during my degree emphasized enough how much time should be spent understanding what lies beyond the data in order to understand the data. Datasets do not always come with extended documentation and often do not have clear column names nor a pre-selected label column.
