Seeking for a data scientist to join can be time-consuming as well as frustrating for both parties. Businesses want to hire the best possible candidate as efficiently and quickly as possible. This is why most of them adopt a multi-step interview schema, where it usually starts with a phone call.
In this post, I share questions that I used to ask in early interviews for junior or intern data scientist positions. Questions listed here are especially to the point when hiring junior/intern data scientists. You may want to use them in early interviews like the initial phone call as these are designed to test the overall understanding and not technical excellence. These questions don’t require a deep understanding of the field and designed to be used by even non-technical people like HR managers or recruiters.
