What Makes a Great Data Architect, Truly Great

As a child, I had a great love of stories of Spain, of the idea of travelling through the Iberian Peninsula and of mastering, and not just learning, the classical Spanish guitar.

One of the phrases that stuck with me from those days was the in underivable quote of “amateurs practice until they get it right; professionals practice until they can’t get it wrong.” In my professional working life, I have striven to identify those things that I want to be sufficiently competent at doing and those things that I consider a fundamental part of my professional competence, and then in making a clear distinction between the two.
